Ingredients
  

Carnitas
  • 3 lbs pork shoulder cut into large chunks
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 onion yellow onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
Taco Assembly
  • 8 pieces corn tortillas warmed
  • 1 cup cilantro chopped
  • 1 cup onion diced
  • 1 cup lime wedges
  • 1 cup salsa

Method
 

Prepare the Carnitas
  1. Season the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, cumin, and oregano.
  2. Place the seasoned pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, orange juice, and chicken broth in the slow cooker.
  3. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the pork is tender.
  4. Once cooked, shred the pork using two forks and mix with the juices.
Assemble the Tacos
  1. Warm the corn tortillas in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Fill each tortilla with shredded carnitas.
  3. Top with chopped cilantro, diced onion, and a squeeze of lime juice.
  4. Serve with salsa on the side.

Notes

For extra flavor, broil the shredded pork for a few minutes after cooking to get crispy edges.
