Ingredients
  

Ice Cream Base
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ice and Salt Mixture
  • 3 cups ice
  • 1/2 cup salt rock salt or kosher salt preferred

Method
 

Prepare Ice Cream Base
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Assemble Bags
  1. Pour the ice cream mixture into a zip-top bag and seal tightly, removing as much air as possible.
  2. In a larger zip-top bag, add the ice and salt. Place the smaller bag with the ice cream mixture inside the larger bag and seal it tightly.
Shake and Freeze
  1. Shake the bags vigorously for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens and hardens to your desired consistency.
Serve
  1. Remove the smaller bag from the larger bag, wipe off any salt, and carefully open the bag. Scoop the ice cream into bowls and enjoy!
